So, not everyone knows this about my bum…
…but it has a tattoo.
I got it when I was 21 – between a Chemistry and Biology lecture at Uni.
I guess it was just one of those things you did back then…
…although it is so much more popular now. It seems that I see fewer people walking around the supermarket without tattoos than with them.
(P.S. The only place I go outside of the clinic and my kids school is the supermarket these days…)
Which got me thinking.
In a Kinesiology Balance at Flourish, one of the pre-tests I often do is a toxin scan. I test the usual toxins that can cause a stress on your body systems – chemicals, molds, pesticides, vaccinations – and I have recently included tatoo’s.
So I thought it was about time that I balance my own tattoo.
Now, keep in mind, I got this tattoo over 20 years ago…
… and I honestly thought that my body would have processed any toxins from the ink from such a small tattoo by now.
But first…a little about tattoo ink
It is true that some red inks used for permanent tattoos contain mercury, while other reds may contain different heavy metals like cadmium or iron oxide. These metals—which give the tattoo its “permanence” in skin—have been known to cause allergic reactions, eczema and scarring and can also cause sensitivity to mercury from other sources like dental fillings or consuming some fish.
While red causes the most problems, most other colors of standard tattoo ink are also derived from heavy metals (including lead, antimony, beryllium, chromium, cobalt nickel and arsenic) and can cause skin reactions in some people.
But I’m more interested in what these heavy metals do once they are under your skin…
So, I was wrong. My tattoo did need balancing.
…and the first thing I noticed was a weird gasing off that I could feel in my nose!
I could immediately feel a tingling inside my nose which lasted a few minutes. The balance continued and numerous corrections were needed, including a balance for my central nervouse system, my brain and my muscles.
Which got me thinking again…
…what on earth has my body been doing keeping hold of these toxins for the last 20 or so years!
